Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS, is a rare neurological disease that affects the nerve cells controlling muscle movement. Over time, it can cause increasing muscle weakness and may affect mobility, speech, swallowing, or breathing. The way ALS develops and progresses is different for each person.

There is currently no cure for ALS, but treatments and supportive care can help manage symptoms and maintain comfort, independence, communication, and quality of life.
