CPIN is a reliable and confidential automated patient outreach and survey system. It allows primary care providers to send messages on health topics or information about the clinic to their patients. CPIN also collects anonymous patient feedback to help evaluate and improve patients’ experiences in the healthcare system.
If your clinic participates in CPIN services or studies, your healthcare provider may send you automated, electronic communications by text or email to request your feedback on the patient care they provide.
These messages may include a link to complete an online survey. They also include a link to opt-out of future communications if you wish to stop receiving messages. If you do not agree to take the survey or if you choose to opt-out of future communications, no further interactions will occur. Your participation is always voluntary and anonymous, and your feedback or decision not to participate will never impact your current or future care.
If you decide to fill out the survey, you will be asked to click ‘agree’ on an electronic consent form before proceeding.
How do we protect your privacy?
Your answers to surveys are completely anonymous. They are not linked to your name; instead, they are linked to a random identifier number that protects your anonymity. No contact information or IP addresses are tracked by the survey system. Some demographic data may also be collected through your clinic’s patient electronic management system (EMR), but this data is de-identified at the earliest stages of collection to ensure your information is kept private.
Your anonymous answers are grouped together with other patients’ anonymous answers. The grouped data is shared back with your primary care provider at regular intervals so your provider can learn about their patients’ experiences. To ensure privacy, results are only shared with your provider if there are more than five respondents in a category. Your provider will never know how any individual patient answered the survey.
Sharing this grouped data with your provider allows them to understand if any groups of patients have different experiences which might need different approaches in patient care delivery.
